Few industries change their IT as fast — and as externally driven — as the energy sector. We make sure your systems hit every regulatory deadline safely.
The energy transition is, above all, an IT programme: German market communication (GPKE, GeLi Gas, WiM, MaBiS) changes formats every six months, the 24-hour supplier switch (LFW24) with fundamentally redesigned GPKE processes has been in force since June 2025, plus Redispatch 2.0, § 14a EnWG and the smart-meter rollout. In parallel, the end of SAP ECC mainstream maintenance (end of 2027) is pushing utilities towards S/4HANA Utilities — while operations continue.
Typical challenges
- Every market-communication format change must be implemented on time and demonstrably tested — twice a year, with no option to postpone.
- IS-U landscapes have grown over decades; migration and regression testing affect billing, market communication and mass-data processes at the same time.
- Subsidy and grid-usage billing require mass testing with realistic data constellations.
- Many parties — grid operators, metering operators, service providers — need to be coordinated in market-partner tests.
- Internal experts are scarce and tied up in daily operations.
How we support you
We take on test management for market-communication releases, S/4HANA Utilities migrations and billing projects — from test strategy through test data and market-partner tests to the final report. In requirements management we translate between business, IT and providers; in project management we keep deadlines and dependencies under control. On request we train your key users and test teams.
Our track record
Our consultants have led the introduction of new market-communication formats, subsidy-billing projects and SAP IS-U initiatives at utilities and in energy technology — see our anonymised references.
